The Sarod

The Sarod, similar in looks somewhat to the Sitar but naturally it is different as the player glides their fingers as opposed to plucks. The sound is deeper, with substance, moody, strong but has subtle undertones so it remains of the light and not the dark.

Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, a friend of our father, is a master of this string instrument and his playing has left us breathless with the sheer delight in watching the player and the played become one. We are biased we admit but the reflections of the sounds of the soulful Sarod create uplift and our daydreams are those of the Gods.
